IndiaFest is IAM’s signature event of the year, which allows the attendees to “Experience India in a Day“.
The event marks the celebration of Indian Independence Day, that falls on August 15th. The State of Minnesota recognizes this day as India Day. This event is an outdoor, free event, which is open for all.
This year, IndiaFest is of special importance to the Asian Indian community as it will be celebrated on August 15th.
The entire upper and lower mall of the State Capitol Grounds in downtown St Paul gets transformed into a mini-India, with over a hundred booths showcasing scores of non-profit organizations associated to India, that work in the state of MN. The event brings together scores of food and bazaar vendors, who set up their booths to sell their merchandise.
There is a cultural stage that showcases an array of cultural performances from the community groups and professional dance schools through the day. One of the main attractions of the evening is the Bollywood Night, which runs towards the end of the event, from 6-9pm, when the upper mall converts into an open dance floor.
The event culminates at 9pm.
IAMN has always been grateful to the Minnesota State Capitol and the City of St Paul for their support over the last nearly 2 decades for IndiaFest, allowing the festival to grow over the years, bringing a crowd of around 25,000.
An event of this magnitude cannot be undertaken without the support of our volunteers. Please sign up to volunteer with us (link will be updated here soon).
