The India Association of Minnesota (IAM) is committed to protecting the privacy, security, and trust of our visitors, members, and event participants. - Event and Registration Data: When purchasing tickets or registering for events (including registrations processed via our secure Zeffy or PayPal checkout integrations), we store registration metadata, such as attendee names, ticket tiers, transaction IDs, and custom responses (e.g., performer counts, T-shirt sizes, or dietary preferences).
- Payment Ledger Records: We maintain an audit ledger of financial transactions (date, amount, fund/campaign category, and receipt number) for membership signups, event admissions, and donations. Important: We do not store, process, or view credit card numbers, debit PINs, or raw billing credentials on our servers. All payments are processed securely by external, PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways (Zeffy, PayPal).
- Usage Data & Cookies: We collect technical browsing data, including IP addresses, browser user-agents, referral URLs, and page navigation patterns, to secure our site against brute-force attacks and improve site performance.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use collected data solely for legitimate non-profit operations:
- To administer your active membership status, perks, and directory access.
- To issue official 501(c)(3) charitable tax receipts and substantiation letters under IRC § 170.
- To validate event registrations, coordinate volunteer schedules, and manage festival logistics.
- To deliver transactional confirmations, account recovery codes, and community updates.
- To send periodic community newsletters and festival announcements (from which you can unsubscribe at any time via 1-click links).
3. Strict Non-Commercial Policy: No Sale of Personal Data
IAM does not sell, lease, monetize, or rent personal data to any commercial third parties or advertisers. Information is shared solely with trusted operational vendors under confidentiality agreements (such as our email delivery system, web hosting infrastructure, and payment processors) strictly to facilitate association services.
4. Cookie Policy & Tracking Technologies
Our website utilizes cookies (small text files stored on your device) to operate securely and efficiently:

5. Data Retention & Data Deletion Requests
We retain member profiles and transaction records only for active membership terms and periods mandated by IRS non-profit tax laws (which require non-profit transaction records to be retained for audit trails).
Your Right to Data Deletion (Right to Be Forgotten): You have the right to request access to, correction of, or permanent deletion of your personal profile and account. To request data erasure:
- Email our administrative team at info@iamn.org with the subject line “Data Deletion Request”.
- We will verify your identity and process the complete erasure of your WordPress user profile, comments, and form submissions within thirty (30) days, retaining only statutory tax ledger records required by federal law.
6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental or guardian consent. For community programs involving youth (such as IndiaFest cultural dance performances or sports events), all registration details must be submitted by a parent or legal guardian.
