[Dated:08/28/2026] India Association of Minnesota Stands with the People of Nepal

The India Association of Minnesota (IAM) extends our deepest sympathy, solidarity, and support to the people of Nepal and to our Nepali friends and neighbors in Minnesota as they confront the devastating impact of the recent massive flooding.

Our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones, those who have been injured or displaced, and communities whose homes and livelihoods have been devastated. We also recognize the courage and dedication of first responders, relief workers, healthcare professionals, and volunteers working tirelessly to save lives and provide assistance.

India and Nepal share bonds that extend far beyond geography, centuries of history, culture, faith, family ties, and friendship. Those connections are equally strong here in Minnesota, where our Indian and Nepali communities live, work, celebrate, and contribute alongside one another.

Today, our Nepali brothers and sisters need our support.

The tragedy has also struck close to home for communities across the United States. Approximately 90 Americans have been reported unaccounted for, including members of the Indian American community, many of whom were traveling in the region on pilgrimage to the sacred Mount Kailash and Manasa Sarovar. We hold them and their families in our thoughts and prayers and hope for the safe return of all those who remain missing.

IAM calls upon Minnesota’s Asian Indian community to stand together in solidarity with the Nepali community, both here in Minnesota and in Nepal. We encourage everyone to reach out to Nepali friends, colleagues, and neighbors who may be anxiously awaiting news of loved ones back home.

IAM will be supporting relief, recovery, and rebuilding efforts for those affected by this disaster collaborating with the Nepali Community in Minnesota. Details will be shared shortly, and we encourage everyone to contribute generously and help those whose lives have been impacted.

Our community has repeatedly demonstrated that in times of crisis, we come together, support one another, and turn compassion into action. This is one of those moments.

To the people of Nepal and Minnesota’s Nepali community: we stand with you in your grief, through this crisis, and throughout the journey of recovery and rebuilding.

Together, let us extend our hands in friendship, compassion, and hope.

With solidarity, compassion, and support,
India Association of Minnesota (IAM)
