[Dated:06/22/2026]IAM Advocates for the Indian Community at CAPM’s 2026 Session Recap
Representing the India Association of Minnesota (IAM), our team participated in CAPM’s 2026 Session Recap with the Council, engaging with state legislators and community leaders to discuss key issues affecting Minnesota’s diverse communities.
A major focus of the discussions was advancing legislation to address anti-Asian Indian hate and strengthen protections for the Indian American community. During the event, IAM representatives met with senators to advocate for the proposed bill and emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing incidents of bias and discrimination.
The conversations were encouraging, with participating senators expressing their support and commitment to working toward the bill’s progress during the next legislative session. Their willingness to engage and listen reflects a shared commitment to fostering a safer, more inclusive Minnesota for all communities.
The event also highlighted the importance of collaboration and strong community representation. Through coordinated efforts, the IAM team worked together to effectively communicate community concerns, build meaningful relationships with policymakers, and reinforce the need for continued advocacy.
IAM extends its sincere appreciation to CAPM for organizing the session recap and providing a valuable platform for dialogue between community organizations and elected officials. We also thank the legislators who took the time to meet with our team and hear the voices of the Indian American community.
IAM remains committed to advocating for policies that promote equality, inclusion, and the well-being of our community. Together, through collaboration and civic engagement, we can continue to make a meaningful and lasting impact across Minnesota.
