IAM Student Achievement Awards
Applications for Student Achievement Awards are no longer accepted 

India Association of Minnesota (IAM) invites applications from Minnesota based High School students to apply for its Annual Student Achievement Awards. These awards recognize High School students who demonstrate excellence in General Academics, Community service, Entrepreneurial leadership & Arts/Sports. This demonstrates IAM’s continued commitment to listen and resonate with the needs of the community.

Awards will be given considering the following 4 categories for demonstrating excellence as described below

Achievement Award Categories:

 Category Description of Excellence
 General: Well rounded accomplishments, with primary focus on
Academic achievements
 Community Service/Civic Engagement:Contribution to the Community through leadership in
Community Service and Civic Engagements
 Entrepreneurial Leadership:Founder/Co-founder/Leader of an entity (non-profit/profit)
and/or demonstrated Leadership to promote an entity that
benefits the society at large
Arts & Sports:Achievements in any form of Cultural Arts or any Sport

Selection & Intimation Process:

    • Applications will be reviewed by an IAM appointed committee, for each of the applied categories

    • Family members of the review committee are not entitled to apply

    • Review Committee members will review and rate all valid applications and recommend the names of selected achievement awardees to the IAM President

    • IAM President will inform the award winners by August 10th, 2020

    • Decision of IAM will be final and binding

    • Results may also be published on IAM website (iamn.org) or other communications from IAM

    • Award recipients will be recognized on Saturday, Aug 15th, 2020 at IndiaFest flag hoisting event at St Paul Capitol Grounds

  • Applicant Requirements
    • Applicant must be a legal US resident

    • Applicant does NOT need to be of Asian Indian origin, but should have been involved with activities/causes related to Asian Indian community

    • Applicant must have graduated from a Minnesota High School in the year 2020.

    • Applicant must be a first-time degree seeking freshman in the Fall of 2020 at a four-year degree program in the United States.

    • Applicant must have completed and submitted all applicable paperwork by the application deadline

  • Application Submission Checklist
    • Students can apply for multiple categories - General Academics, Community service, Entrepreneurial leadership & Arts/Sports. However, a student is eligible to receive only 1 award.

    • Online Application Form, and specify which categories you are applying for

    • Copy of Official Transcript (can be produced later if not available)

    • Recommendation Letter from 1 prominent member in the Community familiar with your achievements

    • One PowerPoint slide of your achievements, providing supporting detail for each category. To clarify, you will need one slide for every category you are applying for.

    • Write an 500 word essay or record a video or audio recording on “Why You should Receive this Scholarship?

Applications must be submitted by August 3rd, 2020
