Student Scholarship Award recipients
India Association of Minnesota (IAM), each year, grants Student Fellowship Award to Minnesota based High School students. This scholarship recognizes graduating students who demonstrate leadership & community involvement within the Asian Indian Community
We received several applications representing a diverse group of young smart and talented students who we feel will represent our community well in the years to come. The selection committee has taken careful consideration in reviewing this year’s impressive and diverse pool of applicants. We thank all the applicants for their participation and wish all a bright future.

Abhi graduated Wayzata High School this year and is a rising freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. When he is not busy being an Honor student, a debtor, and doodle in graphics, Abhi loves to volunteer at youth camps and play cricket.
Archana describes herself as a hardworking and passionate individual with strong problem-solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proven competence in team based activities. What she doesn’t like to boast about is she has excellent academic credentials, achieved her arangetram in Bharatanatyam and is a mean Violin player, an avid golfer and member of her school’s Environment Club.
She is a girl who can do everything – or so it seems. Her bright and beautiful smile and her golden voice has captivated audiences everywhere she has performed. A student of Wayzata High School Class of 2017, Meghana has chosen to go to University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Her smiling and always respectful persona is backed with an impressive 4.1 GPA, an AP scholar as well as a successful competitor at Varsity Speech and debate tourneys..
A Wayzata High School graduate this year, Dhruv has received numerous academic accolades. He is one of a select few students nominated to be a Presidential Scholar, was named a National Merit Finalist, and was named a National AP Scholar for receiving a 5 on 11 AP tests. Dhruv also played for Wayzata’s Chamber Orchestra and loves to dance. Dhruv will attend the University of Minnesota this fall, studying Computer Science and Management Information Systems at the Carlson School of Business.
An Honor student, a cricketer, a basketball player and a debater, Ishan has shown is an all-rounder.He had taken over 8 Advanced Placement courses during his high school and earned President’s Award for Academic Excellence for four years in row. Ishan will attend University of MN starting this Fall.
Meghana graduated from Edina High School at the top of her class. She challenged herself in both her academics and extracurricular activities. She is a National AP Scholar, U.S. Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalist, and a 2-time recipient of the U.S. Presidential Community Service Award. An avid musician, Meghana has played the piano for over 12 years and has also learned Indian Carnatic singing for the past 7. She won awards at the Mozart Piano Concerto Competition, Upper Midwest Music Festival.
