Currently there are 30 Transportation Associate (TA) vacancies in the Metro Area. The TA position requires a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Permit and tanker endorsement. The CDL Class B Permit is only a written test that is based on reading the CDL Manual and taking the test at the Department of Public Safety. Transportation Associate -
Duties: Transportation Associates maintain and reconstruct roadways; maintain traffic barriers; participate in bituminous road repair; culvert cleaning; guardrail repair; and maintain roadsides. TAs drive and operate a variety of heavy equipment to perform snow and ice duties. Also performs preventative maintenance on highway equipment.
Qualifications: Exam Part 1 (Licensure): A minimum of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) PERMIT with no air brake restriction. You will be trained on and must obtain a Class B CDL within 6 months of hire or sooner. YOU MUST POSSESS AND LIST CDL PERMIT (OR CLASS "A" OR "B" CDL IF YOU ALREADY HAVE THE LICENSE) WITH NO AIR BRAKE RESTRICTION ON YOUR RESUME. ADDITIONALLY, you must have a TANKER ENDORSEMENT or obtain your TANKER ENDORSEMENT by the date of hire.
Exam Part 2: Passing score of Level 3 or higher on the math portion of the computerized test and Level 4 or higher on the computerized reading test.
